Chennai Super Kings need their bowlers to find rhythm in an all-important game at home. Deepak Chahar is fit and was back in the side for the last game replacing Akash Singh.

Chahar definitely found movement with the new ball but his real challenge would be to bowl at this pitch in Chennai. He was expensive even on the Lucknow pitch where the batters struggled to score at a decent strike rate.

If the pitch offers some turn, CSK have the right bowling arsenal to exploit the conditions. That will be their best hope going into this match. Theekshana, Jadeja, and Moeen Ali were all impressive against LSG.

The pacers aren’t really promising and the likes of Pathirana are a liability at the death. Looking at how the opposition has managed to easily chase down 210+ totals, MS Dhoni would not be risking to bat first on this ground.

The top-order of CSK has scored the majority of runs this season for their team. Moeen Ali and Jadeja have come to the crease only in the death overs with not many balls remaining. 

The likes of Dube and Conway have managed to play longer innings making the most impact on the game. CSK should be aiming at exploiting the bowling vulnerabilities in the MI camp and push for a much bigger score even if they lose the toss and are asked to bat first.

The batters are enjoying a good run of form along with some really good batting wickets.

However, that may not always be the case. The bowlers need to step up and deliver an improved performance if MI are to clinch their 6th IPL title this year. At the moment, they seem to have a strong chance of beating CSK in Chennai should the toss go MI’s way. 

CSK lack experience in their bowling attack and have been expensive in the death overs. And that’s just what MI need if they’re chasing 200 or more runs. 

Nevertheless, MI cannot be risking such over dependence on their batters to chase down 200+ in every game. Green, Surya, Tilak Verma, and Tim David are the key batters for MI. Jofra Archer bowled a lot of slower deliveries in the last game and went for 56 runs. 

It could be because of his return from injury that he’s not ready to go full pace yet considering there’s the Ashes around the corner. Piyush Chawla is MI’s best bet in the bowling department. Aksah Madhwal, though expensive, looked promising with his ability to deliver yorkers and a boundaryless 20th over.
