Previously, Hardik Pandya played a fine knock on a tricky surface in Lucknow scoring an all-important 66 of 50 balls at number 3. The skipper managed to hit 4 sixes on a pitch where everyone else struggled to even get singles.

Wriddhiman Saha looks in good touch at the top and Gill can also be expected to find his touch on a better surface at Motera. Hardik will be aware of his team’s failure to defend 177 and 204 at this venue in their last two outings. And the recent success in Lucknow would have boosted their confidence as they look to end their losing run at home.

Rashid Khan has been on the expensive side recently. But he’s managed to deliver wickets in every game and has great value in the lower order as well. GT packs a strong punch in the lower middle order with the likes of Miller and Tewatia who can finish the game on high. 

And that’s what makes chasing a better option for Gujarat Titans. There is no doubt about Hardik opting to bowl first if they win the toss.

Mumbai Indians Preview

It was a good effort from the batters chasing a big total against a quality bowling attack of Punjab Kings. Arshdeep Singh bowling two overs at the death was always going to be a tough challenge to navigate for MI. The left-arm pacer’s execution is brilliant and to hit him for 14 or more in an over is never easy.

Mumbai Indians will face a similar challenge when they come to Ahmedabad. Mohamamd Shami will make things difficult for Mumbai Indians at the top and at the death. Rohit Sharma will also be hoping to win the toss and bowl first given his team’s lack of consistency with the ball.

There’s Archer and Behrendorff in the pace department who can be really effective on their best day. However, it is only Piyush Chawla who’s been consistent so far and made the most impact. 

Arjun Tendulkar is likely to be rested for this game. He wasn’t used for his full quota anyway and looking at the hammering he received in the last game, MI will consider replacing him. Arshad Khan or Sandeep Warrier should come in for Tendulkar and give Rohit some pure bowling options in a lineup that is full of all-rounders.

Rohit is in fine touch at the top and SKY has also found his form in the middle order. With Cameron Green and Tim David also coming to the party, MI can post a competitive total on a good batting surface in Ahmedabad.
