Sunrisers Hyderabad will be back to the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad to take on Mumbai Indians as both teams eye a hat-trick of wins.
Both have beaten KKR in their respective last matches. While MI chased down 186 runs against Kolkata at the Wankhede, SRH successfully defended 228 runs at the Eden Gardens in their last game.
The batters are in great form in both teams and the conditions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium seem to have gotten better for batting in recent times.
Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav led the successful run-chase for MI on a slow track at the Wankhede where most opposition batters struggled to get going except for the centurion.
Two consecutive successful run chases must have boosted their confidence and we expect MI to carry the momentum to Hyderabad. Mayank Markande and Marco Jansen will be among the key SRH bowlers to watch out for.
The hosts have bounced back pretty well after losing their opening game of the season at this venue against Rajasthan Royals. After finishing with just 131 for 8 in that run chase against RR, Sunrisers posted 121 for 8 in the very next game in Lucknow batting first.
Things were looking bleak for the 2018 champions. It was as bad a start one could possibly get off to. And just then, Sunrisers Hyderabad did what they were known for.
Facing PBKS at home, the bowlers restricted a strong Punjab batting lineup to just 143 runs with Mayank Markande topping the charts with 4 for 15. Marco Jansen came second with 2 for 16 and a maiden over.
The good news for Hyderabad is that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also in fine touch and looks promising with the new ball. Hyderabad under the leadership of Aiden Markram could finally be reclaiming their strengths and lost glory.
Rahul Tripathi is a key middle order batsman whose form is crucial for Sunrisers in the long run. Harry Brook’s hundred and a quick fifty from the skipper helped SRH post a massive total against KKR in the last game.
However, they would also be expecting the Indian players to step up and deliver consistently to break the cycle of dependency on the overseas batters which had become a characteristic of SRH in the last few seasons.

After a really bad season last year, Mumbai Indians made many bowling changes to their IPL 2023 squad. And yet, they got off to a really bad start with two back to back losses.
Mumbai Indians failed to defend 171 against RCB in their season opener. In the next game, the 5-time champions managed to post just 157 batting first against CSK at the Wankhede and lost by 7 wickets.
Just when Suryakumar Yadav’s form was starting to worry MI and also the Indian selectors, the middle-order batsman delivered a fiery knock in a run chase at home.
SKY’s 43 off 25 balls against KKR at number 3 helped MI stay on top of the game. Ishan Kishan also made a big contribution with his 58 off 25 putting an end to MI’s batting woes. After losing two games batting first, Mumbai Indians secured two consecutive wins while chasing a target in their last two outings.
While MI are still trying to figure out their bowling combinations, the good news is the return to form of their key batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Tilak Verma led the successful run-chase against Delhi Capitals as MI opened their account with their first win of the season.
Piyush Chawla has been a great signing for MI this year. The veteran leg-break bowler has been consistent with his effort in the middle overs. MI should get Jason Behrendorff back in the side as Riley Meredith seems to be struggling and has been expensive of late.
Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen, Riley Meredith, Arjun Tendulkar, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff

The pitch is dry and offers good bounce. While it is great for batting, it also offers help for the spinners. Batters can play their strokes freely in both innings on the match as the pitch will not change through the game. The weather will be mostly sunny with a high of 39 degrees Celsius.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will be the venue for this match. It is a great venue for T20 matches and a lot of runs can be scored here. However, since there is no dew factor, a team with a solid bowling attack can back their bowlers to defend a score.
Team batting second has an advantage at this venue with 36 wins from 66 T20s. SRH won their last game here batting second though they had conceded 200+ in their first home game of the season. Batters in both teams have found their rhythm and look in fine touch. The skippers will be more confident of chasing down a total than defending one.
Mumbai look dangerous with their batters back in form. While SRH have also seen some big knocks, how they respond when the overseas batters are out cheaply will decide their fate. Looking at the current form of both teams, there’s not much of a difference. Mumbai’s experience, batting depth and big-hitting abilities would give them a slight edge going into this match and they start as our favourites.
Our prediction is for Mumbai Indians to win
