Rory Burns' side is at the top of the Championships table with five wins in seven games. They defeated Kent in the last game by 5 wickets, chasing 501 runs in the 4th innings and breaking a record that had stood for 98 years. The side has won all three games they have played at home and shall start from a position of strength in this game.  

Burns is due for a big score, and he will look to set up a big opening wicket stand with Dominic Sibley, who scored a hundred in the last game. The middle order has done well, and they will expect runs from Tom Latham and centurions in the last game Jamie Smith and Ben Foakes. Jordan Clark, Will Jacks, and Sean Abbott make it a strong batting line-up.  

Daniel Worrall and Abbott shall look to get early breakthroughs and use the new ball in the game. Jordan Clark is among the leading wicket-takers this season and has an important role along with Gus Atkinson. Surrey has variety in the attack, and they will look for good spells from Daniel Moriarty and Will Jacks.

However, this will be a different ball game as they take on the table toppers. Vilas would like to see a spirited show from his players in this contest.  

Philip Salt will be confident after his hundred in the last game, and he must see off the new ball alongside fellow opener George Balderson. Josh Bohannon has made more than 500 runs this season, and he must steer the middle order along with Vilas and Daryl Mitchell. The side will expect runs in the lower middle order from Rob Jones, George Bell, and Tom Hartley.  

Tom Bailey and Will Williams have done well with the new ball, and they have a big test here, taking on the strongest batting line-up in the Championship. Matt Parkinson and George Balderson must bowl to their plan to perform well. Mitchell, Bell, and Hartley add to the side's bowling options.
