The Bengal Warriors have blown hot and cold this season. They have been unbeatable in some games while in other encounters they have looked, amateur. Such inconsistent performances have pushed them to the 8th spot in the points table after 13 games.

The Telegu Titans are in the known territory as they occupy the last position in the points table. They resemble heavy vehicle which takes a lot of time to even start, forget rolling on the road. 

As both teams take on each other for the first time on the Telegu Titans home turf, not much can be expected. Telegu Titans will be playing for pride and to spoil the party for the Warriors. The Bengal Warriors need to win every game from here to create a rare entry for them in the top 6. Captain Maninder Singh has been one of the best raiders while Girish Ernak has been one of the top defenders of the season. Still the Bengal Warriors find themselves in trouble. Former champions have dug a pit for themselves this season. Even after having the top raider and defender in their squad, the Warriors find themselves at a crossroads this season. They are placed 8th and have only a few games left to sneak into the top 6 so as to qualify for the playoff.

Several breakdowns of their defense has resulted in Maninder Singh’s effort being neutralized. They lost to the Puneri Paltan earlier in the week. Maninder scored a Super 10 but the team could earn just 6 tackle points in the entire match. This has been the biggest issue with the Warriors. 

The team tackle success rate is just 39 % which is lower compared to the top teams.

They seem to be slow to take off in the first half in most of their games. That puts a lot of pressure on them to cover up in the second half. The Warriors have been involved in 2 Tied games this season.

Smiling Assassin Maninder has earned 147 raid points from 112 successful raids.

Defender Girish Ernak has executed 36 successful tackles from the left corner.

Maninder has conducted 6 Supre raids in 13 games which is the highest for any raider this season.

With the top 2 performers of the season, the Warriors have not been able to leverage their performances. Support raiders like Shrikant Jadhav and Deepak Hooda have been inconsistent. Defenders like Vaibhav Garje, Saktivel, and Balaji have not been able to hunt at will. 

The Bengal Warriors have a golden opportunity to beat a fragile Telegu Titans by a big margin. This is a bare minimum requirement for them in this encounter as the road to the playoff is very difficult for them.

Telugu Titans Preview

The Telegu Titans have not been able to fire at all this season. With a star-studded team they dreamt of winning games, but the reality is that they have been out-performed by every team on the circuit. They do not have much to boast apart from their solitary win of the season which was against the fancied Patna Pirates.

But the Telegu Titans are back in their den as the last leg of the league will be played at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. The Titans have displayed grit and fighting spirit in their last few games. Though it has not helped them win games at least their fans are happy to see their team compete. Siddharth Desai is earning overtime which is good news for the Titans. He has earned 5 consecutive Super 10’s for his team.

The Titans have conducted 599 team raids this season which is the highest by any team but they have been able to execute just 188 successful team raids out of the total.

They have executed 23 Super tackles and most of them have come in the last 5 games. This is the highest by any team this season. Defender Vishal Bharadwaj has been involved in most of these Super tackles.

The Titans have earned 398 team points which is the lowest among all teams while conceding 548 team points which is the highest among all teams. This discrepancy has hurt the Titans throughout. The Telegu Titans lost to the Bengaluru Bulls by 11 points earlier in the week.  Siddharth Desai scored 18 points in that game but the defense could earn just 11 tackle points in the entire match. The Bulls piled on 31 points in the second half which included 2 all-outs too.

This proves that the Titans lose steam in the second half of most of their games. Defenders Ankit and Surjeet have to lead the way, in this case, to make sure their team does not leak so many points in the second half. The Titans have to play for pride as well as for spoiling the party for the Bengal Warriors in their next game. The Titans will have the support of the home crowd which has backed its team despite its poor performance. This might just be the biggest upset of the season.
