Contrasting emotions are being felt in both camps as the Telegu Titans take on the scratchy Patna Pirates. The Titans surprised everyone with their win over U Mumba. They beat them by a margin of 6 points to register their second win of the season.

The Patna Pirates are caught in a web of self-doubts and low intensity. They lost to Dabang Delhi in their last match. It was surprising to see the Pirates lose even after left corner Mohmmedreza shocked everyone by earning 19 points out of 27 team points. This clearly shows the total breakdown in the Pirate camp.

But the Telegu Titans are enjoying the limelight which has eluded them throughout the season. They may not be able to go all the way to the playoff but they can certainly entertain their fans as well as spoil the party of many teams.

The Telegu Titans are at that mode of life where they can just enjoy whatever comes their way. They have been able to win just 2 games out of 16 after struggling to put together a decent combination on the mat. Their fans will hope for a final hurrah this season as the Titans are far off from the playoff. 

They shocked everyone including themselves when the beat the fancied U Mumba in their last game. It was a low scoring match were no raider from either team could earn a Super 10. Both teams regulated the pace of the match with empty raids and Mumba paid the price for their defensive tactics. 

The Telegu Titans tried Mohammad Silas in the left corner position instead of Vishal Bharadwaj. Both teams shared honors till half-time but the Titans pressed hard in the second half to earn 18 points and also inflicted an all-out. The Titans won the match and gave themselves a reason to play well in their remaining games.

The Titans have put in 674 team raids this season which is the highest by any team. But just 220 out of these have been successful.

With just 31% success rate in tackles, the Titan defense has been ineffective through the season.

But the Titans have executed 24 Super tackles which is the highest by any team. Atleast the Titans will be proud of this number as they get ready to take on the Patna Pirates. Interestingly their first win this season came against the Patna Pirates when the Titans beat them by a margin of 9 points. Overall the Telegu Titans have a great record against the Pirates as compared to other teams. They have beaten them 10 times out of their 20 encounters and this will motivate them. The Telegu Titans can compete the double heist as the Pirates are in bad shape after their loss to Dabang Delhi. This could be a rare occasion where the Titans win back to back games.

Patna Pirates Preview

The Patna Pirates seem to be caught up in a whirlpool. They had a torrid start to the season but managed to get back in the groove in time. They looked invincible for some time but the Pirates are back to square one. They have not won any of their last 3 games which makes their journey very difficult. With their current form, the future looks bleak unless they recharge in time for the big games. 

The Pirates lost to U Mumba earlier in the week followed by a TIE with the Tamil Thalaiva. This was followed by a loss to the defending champions whom they had hammered last month. In the match against the Tamil Thalaiva, raider Sachin Tanwar and Rohit Gulia earned well along with good support from left corner Mohammedreza who scored 4 points. But the rest of the defense was lackluster.

The Pirates were completely off-color against Dabang Delhi as they lost a low-scoring game. The shocking part was that the team could score 27 points in all, while left corner Mohammedreza contributed 19 of these. With 8 successful tackles and 3 raids, Mohammedreza was the one man army for the Pirates. This raises a lot of concerns for them as it has exposed a lot of weaknesses for the Pirates. They seem to be fatigued by the long season.

The Patna Pirates take on the Telegu Titans who have been completely out of sorts this season. But the Pirates will not forget the thrashing at the hands of the Titans last month. Currently the Pirates are placed in the points table and they need to win every game from here to keep their hopes alive. 

Their raiders will have to be careful of Titan defenders Parvesh Bhaishwal and Ankit who hunted effectively against U Mumba. The Pirates do not enjoy a great record over the Telegu Titans who have troubled them time and again. If the Pirates fail to cash in on this opportunity, they may slip down the points table to a point of no return.
