Season 9 has 4 teams that have qualified for the next round and the defending champions are not one of them. Dabang Delhi takes on U Mumba in a desperate attempt to squeeze into the playoff. But they have to battle the Tamil Thalaiva and the Haryana Steelers who are on their tail.

U Mumba is out of the tournament with some pedestrian performances in their last few matches. They have lost 3 consecutive matches which has more or less knocked them out. It was quite a shock for the Mumba fans to see their team lose steam in the latter half of the season. 

But Dabang Delhi is feeling the heat more than Mumba as the defending champions need to win their last 2 matches to stay in contention for the next round. U Mumba Preview

U Mumba fizzed out at the business end of the tournament. They looked in ominous form mid-season but fatigue took a toll. They lost the Western derby to the Gujarat Fortune Giants and have been pushed to the 8th spot in the points table and virtually out of the tournament. They still have a couple of matches left to spring in some surprises. 

Overall U Mumba will have to play for pride and for their fans. Unfortunately, they have lost 3 consecutive matches. They lost to the Haryana Steelers by a margin of 2 points. The margin of defeat was exactly 2 points against the Fortune Giants too. Fatigue and lack of the knock-out punch have knocked out the former champions. 

It was a shocker for the Mumba fans to see their team lose after leading by 7 points at halftime. Mumba has itself to blame for this debacle. Young raider Pranay Rane scored a Super 10 while Heiderali, Ashish, and Ghuman Singh got raid points at will. Mumba even inflicted an all-out in the first half. The second half witnessed a dismal performance from U Mumba as they conceded 2 all-outs as well as earned just 2 tackle points to lose the match.

U Mumba looked out of sorts in the second half as they made too many changes in their defense and lost a golden chance to move up the points table. With 2 more matches, Mumba is more or less out of the playoff.

U Mumba has executed 193 successful tackles in 20 matches. 

They have also conducted 25 Super tackles, which means that on an average Mumba has few players on the mat in every match resulting in the Super tackle situation.

U Mumba has been able to inflict 22 all-outs this season but they have conceded 25 too. 

These numbers explain why Mumba has not been able to dominate its opponents. They take on Dabang Delhi in a match where they need to win but their opponents are in a much better position. Mumba needs to spoil the party for Dabang Delhi which may just open the gates for the playoff for them.

Dabang Delhi K.C. Preview

The defending champions have themselves to blame for their current position. They are placed 6th in the points table and struggle to book a berth for the next round. With just 2 slots left in the playoff, Dabang has to compete with 3 other teams. 

Dabang lost a crucial encounter with the Puneri Paltan which complicated things for them. The defending champions are on the verge of being knocked out of the tournament. Dabang has not been able to win any of their last 3 matches. They lost a close match to the Bengaluru Bulls followed by a TIE with the Tamil Thalaiva. They lost to the Paltan making things difficult for themselves. 

They play U Mumba next which will be a tedious affair. This is a must-win game for Dabang Delhi as their last round-robin encounter will be with the Bengal Warriors. Dabang lost to the Paltan due to a sudden breakdown in their defense. They could score just 7 tackle points in the entire match. They were lucky to Tie the game against the Thalaiva as Dabang were trailing by 5 points at halftime. 

The defending champions also made a lot of changes to their team during the match against the Paltan. Have the defending champions gone past their peak? They need to deliver in their last 2 games in order to squeeze into the playoff. 

Naveen Express has earned 225 raid points in 186 successful raids. But Dabang missed out on using Vijay Kumar and Ashu Malik more effectively.
