CSK are one win away from making it to the playoffs. They will be facing the DC challenge in Delhi in their last match of the league stage. Delhi Capitals were exceptional in their last match at Dharamsala where the top 3 batters went berserk to take the DC total to 213 batting first.
Rossouw was in phenomenal touch and the openers also looked in brilliant form. There have been some high scoring games at Kotla where teams batting second have won 4 of the 6 matches. While DC failed to chase down a 168-run target in their last match here, their recent win must have boosted their confidence.
A good batting deck will be good news for Chennai as well. The likes of Shivam Dube, Conway, and Gaikwad will love to play their strokes when the ball comes on to the bat easily.
It won’t be an easy outing for CSK given the strength of the opposition’s bowling attack. Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, and Khaleel Ahmed can all make a big impact and deliver breakthroughs.
Delhi Capitals were eliminated from the race to playoffs recently. They were inconsistent with the bat as both David Warner and Prithvi Shaw failed to consistently deliver a solid start this season.
Warner has yet again shown how brilliant he is as a captain. Only if he could also back it up with the destructive power he’s known for, it would have been a different picture today.
Warner will back his batters once again as they come to Kotla for their last match of the season. Rilee Rossouw scored a brilliant 82 off 37 deliveries at number 3 against Punjab on a brilliant batting pitch in Dharamsala.
With Warner, Rossouw, and Phillip Salt in the top 4, Delhi Capitals’ batting looks quite powerful. These three can hit the long ball as often as they like and if Shaw also continues his form, it would be another high-scoring encounter in Delhi.
In the lower middle order, only Axar Patel is reliable. He can deliver quickfire innings at the death. Whereas, Manish Pandey hasn’t lived up to the mark and failed to build the innings in the middle overs.
A lot depends on the overseas batters in this lineup and they will need to carry DC on their shoulders. With the ball, the pacers are in good touch and look promising while Axar Patel with the spin will be the key bowlers for DC.

Chennai Super Kings will not be happy with their recent loss at home against KKR. The batters failed to put up a decent total on a Chepauk pitch that was quite different from other days. Deepak Chahar is in great form and is consistently delivering for CSK at the moment.
He will be one to watch out for against Warner and Shaw in the powerplay. A couple of wickets in the powerplay would make a comeback from Delhi almost impossible. CSK should watch out for the destructive power of the in-form Rossouw and Phil Salt who take the attack to the inexperienced CSK bowlers.
MS Dhoni needs a strong plan to counter the DC batting. Jadeja would be the key bowler in the middle overs against the likes of Rossouw.
If the pitch isn’t as slow as the last game here, all the opposition needs is for one of their powerhitters to stay until the end. And then it would be Salt or Rossouw against Pathirana which would not be a great matchup as far as CSK are concerned.
Ajinkya Rahane will be a key player in the middle order while CSK would also hope Jadeja and Moeen Ali to step up and make some significant contributions at the death.

It has been a great surface for batting and there have been many high-scoring matches on this ground. Traditionally, it was a spin-friendly track with not much pace and bounce but this year we’ve seen great pace and carry off the surface. The weather will be sunny with a high of 42 degrees Celsius in Delhi on the match day.
Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium will host the last home game for Delhi Capitals this year. The average 1st innings score on this ground in all the IPL matches is 166 runs, but this year the batting has been a lot better on this ground. We reckon something over 185-190 runs would be a match-winning score at this venue.
This decision would depend on the pitch conditions on the match day. For most part of this season, it has been ideal for chasing and teams bowling first have won 4 of the 6 games here. Both teams have a solid batting lineup with CSK having a greater depth ideal for a run chase.
DC are coming home on the back of a fantastic win while CSK will be here following a loss against KKR on their home turf. MS Dhoni and co. have already registered a win over DC in this season on a slowish pitch at Chepauk. The visitors pack a solid punch in their batting lineup and we expect a comeback form the batters. While DC are playing fearlessly and will not let CSK get away so easily, MS Dhoni’s leadership is a big factor that will play in Chennai’s favour. Overall, we reckon CSK has an edge in this contest and will be our favourites to win.
